SpaceX Secures $40B Debt Financing to Purchase Nvidia GPUs
Elon Musk confirmed that SpaceX has secured $40 billion in redeemable debt financing specifically for purchasing Nvidia AI chips scheduled for delivery in the first half of next year. This move highlights the massive capital expenditure on AI compute infrastructure by non-traditional tech giants and reflects the current scarcity of advanced processors.

Musk stated, "This funding primarily consists of redeemable debt used to pay for GPU procurement scheduled for delivery in the first and second quarters of next year. It is not a major factor affecting this quarter."

Prior to Musk's post, Reuters reported earlier this month that SpaceX is negotiating with multiple banks and asset management firms to raise $40 billion (approximately 267.568 billion RMB at current exchange rates) to purchase Nvidia's AI chips.
This massive financing underscores the enormous capital demands driven by the AI wave. Currently, major tech giants are competing fiercely to acquire advanced processors and accelerate the construction of computing infrastructure required to support AI research and development.
In Q3 of fiscal year 2026 (July–September 2026), SpaceX reported total operating revenue of 9.097 billion (approximately 60.852 billion RMB), up 216.86% year-over-year; gross margin stood at 62.42%, an increase of 10.93 percentage points year-over-year; net income attributable to shareholders was $4.404 billion (approximately 29.459 billion RMB), marking a turnaround from losses to profitability year-over-year.
