Musk: Grok Bot Shifts to Multi-Model Architecture, Selecting Best APIs per Task
Elon Musk announced that Grok Bot will transition from a single-model approach to a task-oriented multi-model hybrid architecture, dynamically selecting the best third-party APIs like Claude Opus 5.5 and Midjourney based on specific user tasks. This strategy aims to optimize results through dynamic routing, marking a significant shift for its agent product from a closed ecosystem to an open integration model.

In a tweet outlining the future vision, Elon Musk stated that Grok Bot will invoke leading APIs—including Claude Opus 5.5, Midjourney, and Suno—based on user tasks. The system will select models according to which is "most likely to deliver the best results for the user." IT Home has attached the relevant screenshot below:

Regarding technical strategy, Grok Bot is shifting from an approach centered on proprietary/in-house models to a task-oriented multi-model hybrid architecture. When executing tasks involving text, images, audio, and other modalities, it will be able to call upon third-party APIs that demonstrate superior performance in the future.
Grok Bot is a "resident AI colleague" launched by SpaceXAI. It is not merely a chatbot that answers questions; it can log into your frequently used websites and applications on a cloud computer, execute multi-step tasks, and only return to you for approval when human judgment is required. It was released in beta form in August 2026.
Each Grok Bot has a name, defined responsibilities, and continuously accumulating context. You can assign work to it via text, voice, or voice calls, just as you would message a colleague. Running on a cloud computer equipped with a browser, file system, and terminal, it ensures that background tasks and scheduled jobs continue running even if you shut down your local computer or phone.
