Anthropic Publishes Paper on Claude Proving ETH as OpenAI Announces Same Result
Anthropic released a paper on GitHub revealing that an internal research version of Claude independently discovered the core algorithm disproving the Exponential Time Hypothesis (ETH) using 14 million output tokens without human input. Coincidentally, OpenAI announced on the same day that its model also found a proof for this mathematical problem, marking a breakthrough in AI's capability to tackle frontier theoretical computer science.
Full Report
On the same day OpenAI announced that AI had overturned the Exponential Time Hypothesis (ETH), Anthropic published a paper on GitHub reaching the same conclusion. The sole listed author: Claude.
The paper states that the core algorithm was discovered on October 16 by an internal research version of Claude, using 14 million output tokens with no human input.
OpenAI claimed its own model also found the proof on October 16.
↳ Quoting @alpoge (levent): “The core algorithm was found on October 16 by an internal Claude research model with 14M output tokens and no human input. Anthropic researchers worked with Claude to improve the presentation, resulting in this paper.”
